Occupy Cincinnati’s Discussion Forums

Now that the Occupy Cincinnati group has given its web presence a re-boot, what kind of things are they discussing in an attempt to engage the community?  It turns out their new site features a forum where people can register and start discussions.  Most of it is empty, but user “ironboltbruce” has started several strands in the “general discussion” area.  Is this an indicator of the direction Occupy Cincinnati intends to take moving into the future?  And how does it compare to the perspective given in this recent article in CityBeat?

In his strand entitled “Occupy Wall Street is One Step Away from a Fourth Reich Gulag: Then Who Goes Next?,” ironboltbruce starts off with a radical question:  “Will you go quietly like the Jews, or make a stand against Fascism?”  This seems like a weird type of Antisemitism.  Why would Occupy Cincinnati host posts that suggest their movement needs to be better than those “quiet Jews” who were so passive as to allow themselves to be slaughtered?  It’s almost as if ironboltbruce suggests Jews are stupid for letting the holocaust happen!

In Kevin Osborne’s recent CityBeat article, he writes:

The Recharge Weekend event will be held from 3 p.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday, and again from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Off the Avenue Studios in Northside. It’s located at 1546 Knowlton St., near Jacob Hoffner Park.

“We’ll be recharging ourselves and rebooting our occupation, sorting through the biggest obstacles to being a cohesive and effective organization,” event organizers said. “As we speak, we are developing an agenda and entertainment and allowing ourselves to share some time together, just like we did before we were so rudely interrupted from our encampment.”

On Sunday a general assembly meeting will be held at 3 p.m. to try to reach consensus on a number of proposals being mulled by the group, including details of a winter occupation protest.

“We are reaching out to any and all interested folks for this powerful assembly, but we especially reach out to the many Occupiers that became disillusioned when our encampment was taken from us and those whose enthusiasm was squashed due to organizational and communication issues,” organizers said.

This sounds pretty reasonable, unlike this paragraph from ironboltbruce:

To streamline the process of informing on all those right-wing reactionaries, left-wing radicals, birthers, truthers, militias, agitators, sexual predators, priests (oops! redundant), Muslims, Zealots, Marxists, Skinheads, Communists, Klansmen, Socialists, Hedonists, Libertarians, Anarchists, Neoconservatives, Neoliberals, Koch-sponsored trailer trash Tea Partiers, Soros-sponsored hippy rapist Occupiers, Wild Hogs, Real Bikers and all of the other Mad Hatters who are clearly not complying with the Ruling Kleptocracy’s monitored and managed mainstream Demopublican/Republocrat norms, you can do it all online with minimal interruption to your TV time. That’s right! You can be a Patriot in the New Amerika and STILL stay water-cooler current about who (or what) the Kardashians, Lohans or Hiltons are screwing this week. Plus act now, and you can turn in your neighbor before she or he does the same thing to you!

Just find your state in the list below, click the link and START SNITCHING.

I understand the writer here might be trying to establish a clever tone, but it sounds more like the kinds of over-the-edge conspiratorial lunacy one might encounter when reading slack such as High Weirdness by Mail, written by Rev. Ivan Stang from the Church of the Subgenius (now available online!).  Praise be to Bob.

More from ironboltbruce:

Our Kleptocracy-controlled media focuses on America’s two-year election cycles as if who wins or loses in the swinging of the pendulum was a matter of life or death, when in fact even at the Presidential level it makes no more difference than the outcomes of Monday Night Football, American Idol, Dancing With The Stars, Hillbilly Handfishing or the trial of Michael Jackson’s doctor. U.S. elections are staged primarily to give Sheeple the illusion of control so they will (a) vent their frustrations and expend their energy, emotions and resources supporting or attacking the Puppet on the Left hand or the Puppet on the Right, and consequently (b) never recognize and challenge the common omnipotent Puppetmaster.

So ironboltbruce is not “anonymous,” whatever that is supposed to mean.  But the link above—to “Corporate Criminals Exposed”—will take us to the personal website of the non-anonymous ironboltbruce, a website registered by proxy so the owner of the domain can remain anonymous.  So while we know nothing about ironboltbruce, he does provide this personal description on his page:

IronBoltBruce ... a record-holding long distance motorcycle rider ... a former bikers’ rights activist, and proud member of The 100 ... a political agitator targeting social injustice and piercing the veil of our two-puppet system to expose the institutionalized greed of the Kleptocracy pulling all strings Left and Right ... like Thomas Jefferson, an aficionado of ethnic aesthetic and a philosophical anarchist who accepts the State as a necessary evil under which the best government is less government. Please make a donation to support the Revolution here:

An aficionado of ethnic aesthetic?  What is that supposed to mean?  And why should people be giving this guy money?

One must wonder if Occupy Cincinnati has posted forums, and then failed to pay any attention to them (allowing ironboltbruce to spam them in attempts to direct people towards his fundraising), or whether this guy has some kind of legitimate connection to the movement, and whether these diatribes in some way represent the thinking at their recent “rebooting” meetings.

Still trying to look in from the outside, guys.  Still confused.

If the organizers think middle America, is going to jump on the bandwagon of every fringe cause out there, they are mistaken.
