  1. Cincinnati Crime Report says:

    That’s funny, Dean. Real Funny.

    ‘Jail House Stomp’... Hilarious

  2. The Beachcomber says:

JJ2K is going to get stomped today at the polls.

  3. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

Fine, but Justin’s mother didn’t given him $50K!

  4. Puddin 'n Tane says:

Did Uncle Carl Linder give JJ $100,000, like he gave to Heimlich ti bankroll his reelection bid? The Lesser Linders chipped in another $75,000 as did Farmer and the other rich landowners who would have profited from Filthy Phil’s reverse-robin hood steal from the rich and give to the wealthy tax rollback scheme, disguised as a jail plan.

Oh well, it doesn’t matter because JJ2K’s getting creamed at the polls. The only question is will he or The Land Baron finish in last place.

  6. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

Last I checked, Justin was the top vote earner for candidates not endorsed by a major party.  Additionally, he is doing better than the top voter earner in 2005 of the independent candidates, which was Paul McGhee.

And the jail tax is going down!

    BWAAAA!

  7. anon says:

Congrats to everyone who had the courage to do what most of us wouldn’t (run for office)and on the grass roots movement that caused the defeat of the safety plan.  I surely didn’t agree with you - but I really hope you guys got it right and I got it wrong - otherwise, there are going to be cuts to every program, jobs will be lost and more and more offenders will be getting longer jail sentences so the county can send them up state rather than house them here, local.

I really hope you guys prove me wrong.

Now, let’s see what DeWine does for justice reform not that he has saved himself so much money .

God…. I hope you guys knew what you were doing….

    Congrats anyway

  8. What's he gonna do with that bus now? says:

Your ‘top vote earner’ garnered a whopping 1.7% of the vote. That makes him a fringe candidate by any definition of that term.

The people have now twice told former child celebrity Jeffre that we don’t want his services. Did you hear us this time? Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way out, JJ.

  9. Urbanists II is dead says:

Banal question, but did you report/blog from the BOE press room?

  10. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

No, I was not at the press room.  I posted this entry last night at about 7:30pm before heading out to celebrate with the anti-jail coalition.

(That’s me, in the Enquirer, on the other side of Smitherman…)

  11. Janis says:

Justin had a respectable finish for someone (and a party) not in the power elite.  Well done.
More importantly, I think he represents the true story of Hamilton County and Cincinnati given the way the mental health, senior and jail levies turned out.  The council winners plastered the airwaves with attempts to scare people about safety.  Ironically, I don’t feel a bit safe with them in office.

  12. Observer says:

The Dean of Cincinnati said,(“That’s me in the Enquirer on the other side of Smitherman”)...

We say, “Yeah ok and like where else would you be”?

  13. 21 out of 25 says:

Last I checked, Justin was the top vote earner for candidates not endorsed by a major party.  Additionally, he is doing better than the top voter earner in 2005 of the independent candidates, which was Paul McGhee.

If only there was a prize for 21st place.

  14. Jason Gloyd says:

Justin should be congratulated for running a very nice campaign and bringing his issues to the forfront.  It’s easy to criticize while hiding behind a computer.  At least Justin has the courage to tell an audience his beliefs and his vision for Cincinnati.

  15. Anonymous says:

Congratulations. Jeffre is now officially a Perennial Candidate.

  16. formerly f says:

Last I checked, Justin was the top vote earner for candidates not endorsed by a major party.  Additionally, he is doing better than the top voter earner in 2005 of the independent candidates, which was Paul McGhee.

and hopefully justin will do what paul mcghee did.  disappear.

I am not sure given justin’s name recognition that i would be proud of 1.7% of the votes cast.  To have run for mayor and had citywide exposure, work 2 years in the city and come back and get embarrassed again in a run for city council it strikes me as a disaster.  at least paul could say that no one knew who he was in 2005.

i anxiously await a your response railing on the corporate media.

at least the environment wont have to put up with the 6 mile a gallon disaster that was the bookmobile

  17. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

So, the whole journalist/reporter/newspaper publisher thing is flexible?  Most “reporters” and “members of the media” don’t participate in the news they purport to cover.

Good to know you don’t think the Greens are a “major” party.  Your diminution will and assocation with JJ2K07 will no doubt hold him in higher regard amongst the Greens.

And why are you glomming onto Smitherman?  He’s an idiot.

  18. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

Responding to Jason Haap (aka The Dean- of what I have no idea)-

Congratulations!!! As campaign manager of Jeffre’s election bid, you must be proud ... JJ2k came in Number 1, again, NUMBER 1, with votes for people named “Justin Jeffre.”

    THAT’S AWESOME!

With such political capital I expect great things for the city and look forward to Justin’s contributions.

Also, congratulations on sacrificing the tiniest thread of credibility The Beacon had by sooo blatantly forcing Michael Earl Patton’s (MEP as you call him) and Justin Jeffre (commander of the MCU- Mobile Command Unit) on the few who read your drivel.

Further, please go back to college and learn how to spin results. Your pathetic attempt (see quote below) has me laughing hysterically.

“Last I checked, Justin was the top vote earner for candidates not endorsed by a major party.  Additionally, he is doing better than the top voter earner in 2005 of the independent candidates, which was Paul McGhee.”

Voters soundly rejected both of your candidates. Understandably there is no real way to spin those horrible results.

Instead, you should congratulate the winners, sympathize with the losers, and go back to nitpicking and criticizing every irrelevant issue you can conjure up.

Best of luck to you and the rest of your staff. (Right now I am pouring a sip of my 40 oz beer on a Jeffre sign to salute your valiant efforts.)

  19. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

You are comparing Jusitn’s campaign to those of people who spent hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of dollars.

    Get some perspective.

Let’s wait and see how much each candidate spent per vote in the best democracy money can buy.

  20. formerly f says:

You are comparing Jusitn’s campaign to those of people who spent hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of dollars.

you do know that is who justin is running against right?  messages and idea can bring in money.  no one like justin’s sorry

  21. anonymous says:

Get some perspective?? Coming from you! Wow, that’s rich.

If JJ2k had more support from the voters, he would raise more money and you wouldn’t be bitching about the corporate bullshit you always bring up.

JJ would have also been better off not purchasing that gas-guzzling monstrosity, and applied the money towards voter outreach.

Parking (actually trespassing) your RV on private lots throughout the city is not going to do a whole lot to earn votes.

    Face it.

People speak with their wallets, just as much as they do when they volunteer for an issue or campaign that they believe in.

Get some perspective and a dose of reality.

While you are at it, take off that damn cape. Who dresses like a super-hero as an adult?

  22. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

    Dean,

If you think it is only money that gets people elected, how do you explain Cecil Thomas? In 2005 he won on a shoe-string budget and won again in 2007.

He’s a great example of what JJ2k can aspire to, but will never reach.

  23. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

    How much did he spend?

    How much did Justin spend?

How much did Justin try to fundraise?  What is Justin’s position on fundraising?

About 12% of those who voted casted a vote for Justin.  He has not caused the Green Party to be recognized by the City of Cincinnati as a political party.

  24. Full of it... says:

“About 12% of those who voted casted a vote for Justin”

WRONG DEAN! Exactly 1.7% of those who voted cast a vote for JJ2K. Per the official Board of Elections results. I don’t know what kind of fuzzy math you are using, but here in reality, he got 7066 votes.

  25. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

I think you mean, “has he not caused the green party to be recognized by the City of Cincinnati as a political party?”

Just out of curiosity, what are the advantages of the city recognizing a political party?

  26. Freedom Fighters says:

    .
The city is the loser, not Jeffre.
Jeffre has every reason to hold his head high. There were candidates that had 1/4 mil. invested in a position that pays a total of $120,000 for two years.

Someone is trying to buy influence.

On a shoe string, Jeffre’s voice was heard.

Even if Jeffre decides never to continue political pursuits he remains a success for devoting his time, energy toward a worthy cause.

    Public Service !

    .

    .

  27. JJ2k9? says:

On a shoe string, Jeffre’s voice was heard.

Yes, and people responded by telling Jeffre to shut the hell up.

  28. By the numbers says:

    How much did he spend?

    How much did Justin spend?

Complete 2007 numbers aren’t available, yet, but before you wade hip deep into that argument about money, consider 2005, when JJ was “running for” Mayor (or a reality show…whichever comes first).

In 2005, JJ2k5 spent $12,643.67, or a whopping $17.85 per vote in the mayoral race.  Somewhat ironically, JJ2k5’s 708 votes in the 2005 primary was 1.7% of that vote, as well.

  29. Anonh says:

    By the numbers,

1.7% of the total votes cast in the county dipshit. 11+% of the total votes cast in the city. It was a city race David.

How much did the jailbuilders spend to be defeated?

  30. natural68 says:

1.7% of the total votes cast in the county dipshit. 11+% of the total votes cast in the city. It was a city race David.

What the hell are you talking about?  1.7 in 2005, 1.7 in 2007.  He never ran county wide.  Jeffre’s only lost in the city, so far.

  31. You're such a Fool ! says:

    .
”...Yes, and people responded by telling Jeffre to shut the hell up….”

Quite the contrary as 7,000 citizens in the city and 107, 000 in the county (Issue 27) plead “START SCREAMING” !

    .

  32. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

natural68, you are playing games with the numbers.

11.9% of the ballots cast had a vote for Jeffre on them.  Period.

  33. Anonh 04:14pm needs a math lesson says:

Anonh Idiot 04:14pm; you are a true dipshit, the 1.7% is not the total votes Countywide. Do the math:

7065 (vote for JJ2K)/195,422 (total County voters) is 3.6%.

7065 (votes for JJ2K)/416,719 (total City votes cast for Council) is 1.69%.

Don’t believe me? Read page 1 of the report. City of Blue Ash For Member of Council At Large, Henry S. Stacey received 1840 votes earning him 53.32% of the vote. The Blue Ash Votes for Council, not the entire County. Unless 1840 votes can somehow make up 53.32% of 195,422 voters.

    Got it dipshit?

Fool 5:22-So now everyone who voted against 27 placed a defacto vote for Jeffre?? Give me a fucking break. Most people in the County have never even heard of Jeffre. They voted with their wallets, end of story.

  34. 21st Place says:

21st place.  Not only is that losing, that’s getting crushed by any definition.  Jeffre got his ass handed to him.  He was trounced, and no amount of spin can change that.  I don’t care if he was first among losers by winning more votes than any other candidate not endorsed by a major party.  Now that the Greens are, as you claim, a major party in Cincinnati, what’s your excuse going to be when JJ2k9 gets beaten to a pulp?

And as for Issue 27, count me among the thousands who voted against it, knew who Jeffre was, where he stood, and what he’s written on this blog, and consciously did not vote for him.

  35. You're such a fool ! says:

    .
<i>”...And as for Issue 27, count me among the thousands who voted against it, knew who Jeffre was, where he stood, and what he’s written on this blog, and consciously did not vote for him….”

Since you voted against (27) you must be among the 107,000 who wish JEFFRE will: “KEEP SCREAMING” !

    .

  36. Nope says:

Since you voted against (27) you must be among the 107,000 who wish JEFFRE will: “KEEP SCREAMING” !

No.  I wish Jeffre would shut the hell up and let the grownups handle things.  I opposed last year’s jail tax vote, I opposed this year’s jail tax vote, all without being told what to do by little Jeffre and the asshole in the cape.
