The Cincinnati Beacon
Letter of Concern:  Fundraising Fraud?
Saturday, February 04, 2006

Posted by The Dean of Cincinnati

Bryan Burklow, President and CEO
Deaconess Associations Inc.

John Gall, President
The Heimlich Institute Inc.

Mr. Burklow, Mr. Gall:

Deaconess Associations is the parent organization of the Heimlich Institute Inc. According to this page on the Heimlich Institute’s website, all donations are payable to Deaconess Foundation:

With your support, The Heimlich Institute can continue its important research into treatments for HIV/AIDS, cancer, cystic fibrosis, asthma and many other health conditions. We already have evidence that many of these methods work, but further studies are needed to substantiate these procedures and treatments.

As I have reported previously, the Heimlich Institute has had no employees since February 2005, as confirmed last year by Deaconess employee Jennifer Abdrabbo. This raises obvious concerns of fundraising fraud.

1) Please provide me with any substantive evidence that the Heimlich Institute is continuing “research into treatments for HIV/AIDS, cancer, cystic fibrosis, asthma” and the “many other health conditions” referenced in your fundraising appeal.

Another Heimlich Institute web page states:

Studies indicate that…the (Heimlich) Maneuver saves drowning victims, helps asthma sufferers, and may reduce the incidence of death in victims of pulmonary edema (fluid-filled lungs).

2) Please provide me with copies of all these studies.

I look forward to your prompt reply.

Sincerely,

The Dean of Cincinnati

I return again, only again to say, these people have no class, no character, and were raised by gorilla who taught them that you can pee on people as they watch you.  They will never answer, they will never reply.

Who would put research funds into the hands of a Heimlich?  The dad has been chastised by the entire scientific and medical community for his “malariotherapy” experiments on Chinese prisoners infected with Aids/HIV.

    CincySue - Thanks for posting.

FYI, here’s a bioethics site which has been tracking the Heimlich Institute and Deaconess Associations “malariotherapy” quackery. It’s an astounding compilation of articles and original documents.
