Looks like the ImpeachMallory Bloggers missed their mark with a recent proclamation that the City of Cincinnati had reinstated Dale Mallory as president of the West End Community Council (WECC). (The Cincinnati Beacon covered their proclamation earlier today here.) The City of Cincinnati has not reinstated Dale Mallory, and the Mayor’s office has no knowledge of any such suggestion.
The Impeach Mallory Bloggers used a recently updated list of Community Council presidents posted to the City web page as evidence of their conspiracy.
This afternoon, The Cincinnati Beacon spoke to Jason Barron, Mayor Mallory’s media liaison. He said the Mayor’s office had no knowledge of the updated list whatsoever, and had no knowledge of any change to the WECC presidency. Barron advised that the list is administered by the Community Development and Planning Office.
Turns out the list was mistakenly updated by Velda Chapman. “In the process of updating,” she explained,” I updated the old list instead of the current one. It is my mistake. The proper list is being updated as we speak.”
So it turns out there was no conspiracy, no secret plans in the Mayor’s office to reinstate his brother as some form of protection. Nothing of the sort. There was just a minor clerical error that should be resolved by the end of today.
I have always said the ImpeachMallory guys should be a bit more careful with how they report. Here’s why. This one completely missed the mark.
