Cincinnati Mayor Mallory calls on Pittsburgh Mayor O’Connor to pay-up on his Playoff Bet
Friday, February 03, 2006

Posted by Media Release

(Cincinnati) Mayor Mark Mallory is setting the record straight on his bet with Pittsburgh Mayor Bob O’Connor.  Mallory was shocked to see an article in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette claiming that he had not yet fulfilled his bet with Mayor O’Connor.

"In Cincinnati, we pay our bets,” Mayor Mallory said.  “I called his office the next day.  We have made several calls since then.  It’s been three weeks, and I am still waiting for a return call.”

Like the rest of Cincinnati, Mayor Mallory took the playoff loss hard. Despite his disappointment, the Mayor called first thing Monday morning to congratulate the Pittsburgh Mayor.  No response.  Mallory’s office has since made several attempts to contact the Pittsburgh Mayor.  No response.

“This is a first for me.  I have never seen anyone welsh on a bet that they won,” Mayor Mallory said.  “Maybe Mayor O’Connor does not think that his city is worth showing off?”

Mallory is determined to take the loss of the bet and turn it into a positive.  He is already planning to take a delegation to Pittsburgh.  The plan is to load up a bus with city officials, community leaders, and members of the media.  He is even looking into taking the famous Bengals Stormtrooper as his personal security.

“After what happened to Carson, I am taking no chances,” Mayor Mallory said. “I have been trying to take the high road and give Mayor O’Connor a little time to get his feet wet as a new mayor.  I know how busy the first few weeks can be.  But, I will not let him say that I am ducking him.  The truth is that Pittsburgh is ducking Cincinnati, just like the Steelers will be ducking the Bengals next year regardless of what happens on Sunday.

After that low blow reference to Palmer’s injury, I would think the phone might be idle a bit more.  Yeah, the Pittsburgh Mayor is a bit busy...with this little thing called the SUPER BOWL!

LOL.  Nobody talks loser trash like the Bengals.  FYI:  Pittsburgh will NEVER duck the Bungals.  Bring it.

Kinda sad and pathetic really...but funny all the same.
