Good coverage, bad coverage: 3CDC and teen suicide in The Enquirer
Saturday, September 04, 2010

I have mixed feelings about The Enquirer today.  In an item entitled “Over-the-Rhine protest decries prosecutor’s decision on death in Washington Park,” the paper really gives some ink to perspectives contrary to 3CDC.  This is a relatively new thing for the paper to do, as previously they only advanced pro-3CDC propaganda without even disclosing their publisher sits on that organization’s board.  (For more on that, read this.)  But I also see they have published this item, showcasing how a teenager committed suicide with his vehicle.  Media coverage of suicide is a real issue, and I disagree with how the Enquirer handles it.

La Botz letter to Ohio Newspaper Association
Monday, September 06, 2010

Dear Board of the Ohio Newspaper Association,

The media have announced that you will be helping to organize debates between U.S. Senate candidates Rob Portman of the Republican Party and Lee Fisher of the Democratic Party. I am writing to insist that, as a certified candidate in the race for the U.S. Senate in Ohio, I be included in the debates which your organization is helping to organize.

Pork chops, racist asshole, Gypsies
Sunday, September 05, 2010

Maybe you’ve heard by now that France is “systematically evacuating” Gypsies.  Reading the story this morning reminded me of my only experience with a self-identified Gypsy—which took place about eight years ago (maybe more) at Nick’s Chops and Chasers in Oakley.

Molak: Electric buses and wind charging parking lots
Monday, September 06, 2010

Guest column by Dr. Vlasta Molak, resident of Springfield Township

The entire Hamilton County was filled with hope in 1996, when similar promises were made by the vested interests who wanted to raise taxes to build two unnecessary stadiums.  Now, 14 years later and $1,400 MILLIONS already sunk into the banks of Ohio, in addition to serious budget deficits in the City and the County budgets, all those hopes had evaporated like smoke and mirrors, which they were.
