Letter for Congressional Candidate Phil Heimlich

Dear Mr. Heimlich,

In a recent campaign email, you characterized yourself as a good steward of tax dollars, and you said you transformed Hamilton County government.  I recently asked Commissioners Todd Portune and David Pepper about your “transformations,” and they said you were to blame for the County being tagged by Moody’s for a potential bond rating downgrade.

You can read more about that here.

According to Portune, you spent wildly out of the County reserves, almost bankrupting Hamilton County.  And according to Pepper, Moody’s pointed to your actions when explaining the potential downgrade, which could cost Hamilton County even more money that it doesn’t have.

Please provide explanation about how you are a good steward of tax dollars who transformed County government given the criticisms alleged against you by Commissioners Portune and Pepper.

Thanks, and I look forward to studying your reply.

Respectfully,

The Dean of Cincinnati
