Joan Kaup and John Eby:  Technologically Integrated Campaign Strategies
Sunday, June 10, 2007

Posted by The Dean of Cincinnati

Charterite Joan Kaup’s campaign webpage is now online (kaupforcouncil.com), and all indications are that Kaup’s team is set to mount a fully integrated netroots campaign.  Republican John Eby has also mounted a comprehensive online strategy.  These techniques are new to the Cincinnati political scene.

Integrated into the nagivation bar of Joan Kaup’s homepage are links to YouTube, MySpace, and Flickr—three top social networking sites:

*Kaup’s Flickr campaign page
*Kaup’s MySpace page
*Kaup’s YouTube channel

If she stays focused, putting time into descriptions, tags, and providing links to her campaign page, she may be able to create a high degree of visibility from a netroots perspective.  Missing from Kaup’s approach, however, is a blog—but John Eby has provided one of those, as well as the other tools utilized by Kaup:

*John Eby’s blog
*John Eby’s YouTube page
*John Eby’s MySpace

Eby also has a facebook, but that requires an account to view.  It will be interesting to see how many candidates jump on this bandwagon, trying to be sure no other politician outperforms them from a web networking perspective.

Thank you for reading (and printing from) The Cincinnati Beacon.
