According to the BBC, police forces from around the nation and the UK have taken notice of the decrease in our homicide rate and are interested in copying CPD’s successful strategy. They credit a carrot and stick approach where gang members aren’t just threatened with “VIP treatment” (heavy prosecution), but they also get connected with social service agencies to help them find jobs, training or better housing. It seems the real key is getting the community involved as well.
