Freestore Foodbank Battle of the Blogs!

Posted by The Dean of Cincinnati

This week, the Cincinnati blog issued a challenge to all local blogs, saying we should compete to raise money for the Freestore Foodbank.  This is a great idea, and The Cincinnati Beacon would be pleased totally destroy that website in its own challenge.  It’s like two good causes wrapped up in one:  beating that other blog, and helping those in need this holiday season!  Now you can do it online.  So, give what you can to the Freestore Foodbank today! And participate in this historic battle of the blogs!

To make things even more convenient, check out the virtual store where you can give to the Freestore Foodbank right now!

Now, here’s how to play:  if you give anything to the Freestore Foodbank because you found out about this through The Cincinnati Beacon, please consider letting us know!  You can leave a comment below with the amount of your contribution, or you can send me an email ().  We do not intend to publish any names; instead, we would be interested in keeping track of how many dollars our humble efforts were able to direct towards the Freestore Foodbank.

Or, if you decide, after reading this, to give an actual food donation, please let us know about that, too!  And thanks for participating in the first annual Battle of the Blogs for charity!

Don’t forget to tell your friends!

BTW, you can mail checks here:

  6. cincysuz says:

This is a great thing you’re doing. I make a monthly donation of $25 through payroll deduction to United Way with Emanuel Community Center and the Freestore Foodbank as my recipients. Can you count it? I’ll also mention that people can donate at the grocery store checkout. Just include one of the tags in various denominations with your order.

  7. says:

C’mon Cincysuz....as much crap as you give everybody on this blog--donate somethig!  I also donate to a org that is comprised of 15 churches. Thus far this year I’ve given to the Boys and Girls club, Stop Aids, Barack’s campaign, etc, etc.  But why don’t you write out a check, even if only for 10-20 dollars and donate in the Beacon’s name.  It would be cheating if they used what you’ve already donated.  Who do I sound like Cincysuz? I sould like you always telling folks what to do. OK this isn’t the place to bicker, it’s the place to donate, so do it!  Just do it!

  8. says:

I was just notified of another donation, though the amount was not disclosed.  Still, thanks for participating!  Keep the good news coming!

  9. cincysuz says:

Don’t turn something positive into an opportunity for an argument Deters. Worry about your own donation.

  10. says:

Cincysuz put up or shut up!  You have no right to comment on this blog post because you haven’t given anything, nothing, nada! You shoot your mouth out and you insult me and call me Deters. A challenge, make a donation and I’ll match it, or at least I’ll make another donation.

  11. says:

Just got word of another $60.  Great work!

  12. cincysuz says:

I’m going to ignore you on this one so the impetus isn’t disturbed. I’ll see you on another thread.

  13. says:

Just received word of another $40.  Excellent!  Thanks!

  14. says:

    That’s around $285 dollars so far, I think…

  15. says:

The Wine Me, Dine Me website has a similar thing happening—promoting support of local business and the Freestore Foodbank.

  16. Julie says:

Hey, if we’re going to compete, it might as well be for a good cause.  Thanks for the link. smile

  17. David Pepper says:
  18. Toronto condominiums says:

My advice is that......Don’t turn something positive into an opportunity for an argument Deters. Worry about your own donation.

  19. feoshia henderson says:

    The ‘burbs are in it!
