Organizers of Halloween Party-Protest that takes place On Friday October 24, 2008 at 12 noon at Hamilton Country Prosecutor’s office at 230 E. Ninth Street Cincinnati, Ohio 45202 at 12 noon. state that they will not give free Halloween candy to Wealthy, Well-connected, White people. Only poor whites people and poor minorities will receive candy.
Unfair? So is double-standard sentences dished out by Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters. Clearly, there are two criminal justice systems in Hamilton County.
Citizens against Joe Deters is a grass roots organization of citizens who are frustrated by Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters double standard of justice and public insults against people of color, people who aren’t wealthy, and people who aren’t well-connected. Our organization’s mission is simple--pressure Joe Deters to resign from his position as Hamilton County Prosecutor.
Citizens against Joe Deters protestors should wear Citizens Against Joe Deters t-shirt (which can be purchased for 15.00--4.00 dollars of proceeds go to CAJD). If CAJD protestors prefer not to purchase t-shirt they can make poster board signs and or wear Halloween (scary) costume to show that they are afraid of Prosecutor running unopposed. If possible bring a bag of candy to be handed out to poor parents with children visiting their loved ones at the Hamilton County Justice center.
Thus far our group has been contacted by several local and one national media outlet. For more information please contact FBK or Nicole at Sign, print, and distribute petition http://www.scribd.com/doc/6045606/Citizens-Against-Joe-Deters

I like the bold stance you are taking. It isn’t fair that if you don’t go to the same country club or golf course as Deters and his cronies you stand a less chance of getting a fair distribution of justice. So I hope at your protest people get the message.
12 Oct 2008 at 12:58 pm | #
Incredibly stupid. What? Are you going to ask white people for financial statements in exchange for a piece of penny candy? Or do you just assume that all white people are rich and all black people poor? And what about the powerful black Republicans that worked so hard against Fannon Rucker in the last election? Do they get candy?
12 Oct 2008 at 04:39 pm | #
Do you ever read what is posted in it’s entirety?
For sure you won’t get any candy?
I won’t even respond to you cincysuz until you get the point!
12 Oct 2008 at 05:24 pm | #
Lighten up CincySuz, if I didn’t know any better I would think you were a bitter jane six pack, sporting a bitter beer face as you type away. Are you mad that the wealthy and well-connected won’t get a fair share of candy? Then you share the same feeling as many local citizens who too often get the short end of the stick when it comes to fair and equal distribution of justice.

It’s been a while since I’ve commented at the Beacon....and all I can say is Wow! So basically this group doesn’t like Joe Deters and thinks the best way to get him to resign is to hold protests....How about you give up grass roots and find a candidate to oppose him, and oh my god, support that candidate?
Isn’t it also possible that the people who are locked up, the same people whose families will recieve your candy, are, I don’t know, guilty of some crime? What amount of people in the county jail do you purport are unfairly criminalized by Joe Deters?
Or maybe you support crime? I don’t know.....but if they are in jail, they are in there for something they did, not something Joe Deters did.....maybe that’s where the argument should start. But is typical in our society, nobody wants to take responsibility for their own actions, its always something or someone else.

Truth=Consequences: When ridiculous and fruitless efforts jump to the forefront of an issue as important as getting rid of Joe Deters, it trivializes it. You surmise a lot of shit about me based on your bigotry and prejudices. Of course, like all bigots, you’re wrong on all points.
13 Oct 2008 at 09:46 pm | #
This is seriously one of the dumbest things I have ever seen. Basically what this so called “grass roots” campaign wants is for all black people to be given a pass for committing crimes, because after all, they are black and therefore held down by “the man.” Nevermind all the successful black folks in our city who, you know, don’t break the law constantly. Being poor, or black, or whatever else, has nothing to do with who is in jail. Criminals are in jail - bottom line.
14 Oct 2008 at 07:38 am | #
Citizens Against Joe Oriented Negative Embellishment is also holding a support rally for Joe, at the same time and place. We plan on taking whatever candy we want, from whoever has it.
14 Oct 2008 at 10:52 am | #
For Realz--Can you read? Citizens Against Joe Deters does NOT support crime. Let me say that again because clearly you and Cincysuz cannot read! Joe Deters is a criminal. Joe Deters is a criminal. Citizens Against Joe Deters does not support criminals.

So if a bigot were to agree with you, wouldn’t that make you wrong on all points too?
14 Oct 2008 at 05:18 pm | #
JFD - I stand corrected. My fingers got away from me. And CAJD, I too think that Deters is unfit for his office or any elected office for that matter. I strongly and actively supported Fannon Rucker in the last election. Local black Republicans partnered with local white Republicans to smear Rucker and get Deters in. Start there why don’t you? Are you refusing to give candy to Republicans? The people that elected him.

And all the protesting & marches are really & truly going to make a difference. Yeah, right. That’s sooooo last century.
For sh*ts & giggles, I’ll have to trot by in grubbies to see if they bless me with candy. Then, I’ll go to the car & put the threads on to see what happens then.
These whining, complaining peeps had their chance 4 years ago when Timbo Burke put Fanon Rucker up against Deters. Gosh, gee, what happened, peeps?
Whiners & complainers can win when they find a candidate to run against someone they vehemently hate. They support that candidate, volunteer on the campaign & get out the vote, even if it means providing door-to-door transportation to polling places. Oh yeah, see to it the elderly, the sick, & the shut-ins get absentee applications, help them to fill them out, take the apps to the Board & give those absentee voters the postage to send in the ballots.
Oh, that’s too much like W-O-R-K. It’s so easy to whine, complain, bellyache & stage protests, marches & give away last year’s stale Halloween & Christmas candy.
If you aren’t going to actually W-O-R-K to make changes & get out to vote, then you get exactly what you deserve - the voters’ choice! Clearly, Deters trounced Fanon Rucker.
Then after the racist, classist candy tossing protest, the complainers can then carpool to Columbus to confront the scribes who make the laws in this state. If you’re that unhappy with the sentencing structures in this state, then you need to showdown with the lawmakers. Good luck with that. Again, that’ll really be a full plate of W-O-R-K!

Hi Jones--
Yeah come on by want cha. Gosh, I’m really looking forward to meeting ya. In case you missed it Buddy (may I call you Buddy?) the purpose of the Party-Protest is to demostrate how ridiculous it is for “elected” officials to run unopposed and how SICK we are of Joe Deters Double-Standard style of justice. Our group is going to have a lot of fun.
Jones it’s easy for jerks like you to criticize. But remember--
The protest politics of a legion of dreamers and Workers can turn the tide in a Prosecutor’s career and change the course of a city. A Protest may not be new to politics but it will serve the purpose because old “elected” officials” have forgotten the most basic lesson: people, acting together, are power. They don’t just have power. They are power. Citizens Against Joe Deters is power.
Always remember to use your common sense
30 children in a classroom can overpower 1 racist white teacher or ignorant Black teacher in a classroom
500, unified tenants in a building are more powerful than 1 landlord
5000 unified inmates in a jail or prison are more powerful than 100 correction officers
100 unified workers are more powerful than 2 bosses
500 million Americans are more powerful than white supremacy and racism
17 Oct 2008 at 05:50 pm | #
Citizen against Joe Deters, no, you may not call me Buddy.
It’s the People who
The people have allowed the crooked, shady backroom deals to exist & take shape.People who act together are power. So, perhaps your little candy party needs to move beyond protesting & handing out candy to put the power back into open, fair choices.
I’ve told several co-workers & associates about this little candy party. It’ll be interesting to see exactly how fairly we are treated by those who have placed themselves in a judgment position, who are going to judge the passers-by solely on the color of their skin & the clothing on their backs.
And this is power to enforce fair choices? Nah, I didn’t think so.

"Our organization’s mission is simple--pressure Joe Deters to resign from his position as Hamilton County Prosecutor.”
Agreed. Why don’t you run a candidate against him instead of staging this silly demonstration? Are you now a junior league CJC? Lotta good that rabbles’ rousing did.
19 Oct 2008 at 06:51 pm | #
Silly? Like your name Mr. Pony-poo-pang Urbanists II is Dead --Are you taking your meds? You asked “Why don’t you run a candidate against him...?” I’ll do me and you do you. Translated that means worry about what you are doing. Which appears to be nothing.
Why don’t you come out to protest pony-poo-pang. I’d love to give you some candy. If that’s OK with your Doc.

The discourse on this site is never for93more elevated than when CAJD posts.
20 Oct 2008 at 09:14 pm | #
CAJD: I always wondered who kept Nate’s blog alive- now we know it’s you and your Obamaesque plagiarizing, to wit:
“Always remember to use your common sense
30 children in a classroom can overpower 1 racist white teacher or ignorant Black teacher in a classroom
500, unified tenants in a building are more powerful than 1 landlord
5000 unified inmates in a jail or prison are more powerful than 100 correction officers
100 unified workers are more powerful than 2 bosses
500 million Afrikans are more powerful than white supremacy, racism, and the entire Amerikkkan government”
Like the guy in Jurassic Park said (note the attribution), “Clever girl.” CAJD is plagiarist, not power.

Urbanist is Dead II ir II is Dead Urbanist....
It’s going to be THE COLDEST WINTER EVER? Wouldn’t you agree?
Let me make this clear, cause I don’t think you’re getting it. The position of our group Citizens Against Joe Deters is to advocate for fair treatment of ALL Cincinnati citizens regardless of race or economic standing. We DON’T support crime. We support fair treatment by ‘elected’ officials. We support elected officials that don’t run unopposed. We support elected officials that don’t abuse power be engaging in voter intimidation.
Are you learning anything from the Presidential race? I am. I’m taking the high road to victory.
Good day.

Thank you all who have contacted Citizens Against Joe Deters offering your encouragement and or support. CAJD was launched in my living room by myself FBK and my partner in crime (no pun intended), my little cousin Nicole. On our journey to justice we’ve made some fabulous friends and met some great people willing to help. CAJD is a grass roots organization of citizens frustrated by Joe Deters. Our organization’s mission is simple--pressure Joe Deters to resign from his position as Hamilton County Prosecutor (With two weeks left we no longer care if he resigns as John McCain’s S.W. chair). Not only does Joe Deters have a checkered past, he dishes out double-standard justice, and his latest actions of engaging in voter intimidation are unacceptable. Citizens Against Joe Deters DOES NOT SUPPORT CRIME. We understand in life people make mistakes, but when the mistake-maker is the gate keeper at the door of justice--it’s not acceptable.
Please join Citizens Against Joe Deters For a Halloween Party-Protest On Friday October 24, 2008 At 12 noon Location Hamilton County Prosecutor’s office 230 E. Ninth Street Cincinnati, Ohio 45202 (RAIN OR SHINE BRING YOUR HOMEMADE SIGNS)
Protest will call for Hamilton County Prosecutor to resign.
Volunteers are needed! Please let me know if anyone can come to my house Wednesday evening. We need help. We have a list of 400 people that need to be called and reminded about the protest. We need help making the candy bags that we are going to give to people at the protest. We need people willing to dress in costumes. We need people willing to call the media. We need people to print and get signatures for petition http://www.scribd.com/doc/6045606/Citizens-Against-Joe-Deters We need people who can make signs. Also, our group will be helping other organizations with various upcoming election events.
Email me if you can help. When you email I’ll give my phone #
DON’T FOR GET VOTE EARLY! YES ON ISSUE 7. YES ON ISSUE 8 (Proportional Representation). The National Democratic Party uses Proportional Representation (PR) and it played a key role in the nomination of Senator Obama.”
21 Oct 2008 at 04:42 pm | #
So, you support fair treatment of Cincinnati criminals?
Since you claim to not vote in Hamilton County (see Todd Portune billboard thread), presumably you don’t live in Hamilton County, so what possible standing can you have for any of your activities against the Hamilton County Prosecutor?
What’s your dog in this fight?
Some might consider this interference in [our] election.
21 Oct 2008 at 05:38 pm | #
I grew up in Hamilton County. Most of my family resides in Hamilton County. I spend a lot of time in Hamilton County. UID II or is it U II is D. I get it confused. Do you mind if I call you IUD for short? No....not like the birth control. Anyway, clearly you’re angry and I’m not. All I can say is take your lunch break and come out to the Protest, not as Protestor, as an invited friend. Clearly we disagree as to who the criminal is and that’s fine. I’ll still buy you a cup of coffee.
Best…
21 Oct 2008 at 06:36 pm | #
First , it is not “What’s your dog in this fight?; It is either “Have you...” or “Which dog is yours....”.
Next, whenever an official abuses the rights of others, it is everyone in the world that has a dog in the fight. There is one thread in your post that is consistent and that is your ignorance.
21 Oct 2008 at 06:40 pm | #
Such wit. You missed your calling.
Thanks, no. I’m not angry at all. I’m also not wasting my time with impotent “protests” that accomplish nothing more than attract the attention of a bored local media (why don’t you protest in Warren, Brown, Clermont or Adams Counties? Answer: no media attention. How convenient and lazy to protest in HamCo).
You wanna protest Joe Deters and unopposed candidates? Withhold your votes from endorsed Democrats this election. Send Tim Burke a loud and clear message about unopposed races. That’ll show ‘em!
22 Oct 2008 at 08:20 am | #
Amen dieterschmied!
24 Oct 2008 at 04:20 pm | #
Thanks to all that showed up for the rally. It was a solid turn out despite the rain. Shout out to Cole and Dole reps…thanks for coming out. WXIX shot lot’s of video.
Thanks to Rebecca and her 5 year old who brought coffee for all.
Special thanks to Nicole and MTK…thanks a lot. We have pix and a short vide.
24 Oct 2008 at 05:41 pm | #
DS: “dog” is a metaphor for one’s interest or investment; thus, “what is your “interest” in this fight?
Whose rights has Joe Deters violated? Name two persons. Why Joe Deters and not the Clermont County Prosecutor? Answer: no media attention in ClerCo.
What you wrote is lazy and ill-considered.
25 Oct 2008 at 12:29 pm | #
Excuse me?
I am not the one who misunderstood the metaphor.
Do you know the source? Careful, I do!
27 Oct 2008 at 08:27 pm | #
The source is hardly the point; your inability to grasp subject-verb agreement is.
CAJD: WXIX 19 is affectionately known around here as the “fake news.” Congratulations: your quest still dwells in obscurity.
