Cincinnati NAACP President shares update on Cincinnati Retirement Plan

Dear Membership and Community,
Please take the time to review a video of President Smitherman talking about the Cincinnati Retirement Plan. The Cincinnati Enquirer started to come clean today with city tax payers with an editorial that states “ The system is clearly unsustainable”. This is an editorial in today’s paper. The problem is that the Enquirer failed to mention that Councilmembers Smitherman and Monzel held an emergency hearing in October 2004 warning the city for its failure in managing the city workers pension.
The Enquirer is still not telling the whole truth. The city will hit $1 billion of unfunded liabilities before the 10 years the Enquirer has stated. This is the biggest issue the city faces. The Cincinnati NAACP is amazed that City Council would talk about building a $200 million choo choo train. City Council is holding a hearing at 1:00 pm today to discuss the City Retirement Plan. I hope they tell the truth.
