Cincinnati Black United Front Protests Promotion of Patrick Caton

The Cincinnati Black United Front, other activist organizations and citizens disgusted with the promotion of Caton will demonstrate their disgust by protesting Saturday, February 3 at 12 noon in front of District 5 on Ludlow Avenue.
Rev. Damon Lynch III, former CBUF president recently stated that “Caton who killed Roger Owensby Jr., was charged by the prosecutor, indicted by the grand jury, and suspended for calling a black man the N word, reprimanded by his supervisor for driving under the influence then fired in 2003 for conduct unbecoming of an officer. But the last action for Caton is a promotion on Martin Luther King’s Holiday. Cincinnati has to be better than that.”
Iris Roley, current CBUF president states, “We refuse to accept the promotion of a policeman with that type of record. We must continue direct actions to demand the promotion be reversed. It seems to me if it is true that his performance was considered in the promotion decision as the city solicitor says it was, and he has this horrific performance record, the promotion should have never occurred. We invite all citizens who agree with us to come to District 5 at noon tomorrow. She also stated that since representatives of the national office of the NAACP are in town, she will invite them to participate in the demonstration.

Uh, February 3 is Sunday, not Saturday.
Maybe if they’re lucky, this laughable CBUF can locate Kenny Lawson, sober him up enough that he can take a couple of steps. I’m afraid they’re out of luck in getting Clyde Bennett, another criminal buffoon, to help them out.
Hopefully, there will be a counter-demonstration to the lies old man Owensby told about taking a portion of his blackmail money to set up a scholarship fund. A damned greedy lie. I’ll be viewing the 6PM news to see how many of these BUFers get arrested, along with their NAACP guests.

Jones - You’re out of line. the Ownesby’s conduct has been above reproach. Many people might have taken an entirely different route--outside of the court system--in response to the murder of their son. They were restrained and took the high ground. Mr. Owensby is the kind of dad that takes his role as head of the family and protector very seriously. He’s an inspiration and I don’t know why you don’t see that.
This latest action has given Caton a free pass to target any citizen, anytime. He must be laughing his ass off. You don’t find that scary? You aren’t outraged that one of our military veterans was piled on and murdered though he had done nothing. Nothing. I guess you thought it was okay when the police in NY raped a man with broom. Or filled a man with bullets out celebrating with his buddies the night before his wedding. There are cases too numerous to count and they seem to be increasing in recent years. If you believe that the court process should be suspended and the police should have authority to murder people on the streets without question, there are many countries with such systems that would welcome you. Here in America we should voice our outrage whereever and whenever it happens.
