6 Pennies Per Vote!

WeDemandABetterPlan.Com today filed its campaign finance report showing total expenditures of $6,108 and in-kind contributions of $864.
In contrast, the pro-levy group today filed a report showing expenditures of $964,905 (from the beginning of the campaign forward). Momma Pepper apparently did not contribute any more funds to the cause after the pre-election report was filed.
The anti-levy forces spent 6¢ per vote to get out their message.
In contrast, pro-levy advocates spent $11.20 per “yes” vote to advance their message. Or, using an alternative analysis, they spent nearly $500 per vote for the 1% who switched their position from November of 2006 to November of 2007.
Doesn’t that information and analysis warm the the cockles of your holiday hearts?

The real costs of the failed election will be bourne by those benefitting from programs that must be cut and those being laid off due to the $35M county budget deficit.
Meanwhile, we have the county judges and the sheriff holding their breath on threats to sue the county if they don’t get their share.
Big surprise. The 2 entities needing the most reforms to improve the delivery of justice in Hamilton County will exercise their muscles to make darn sure they maintain the status quo.

6 cents per vote? You spent too much. You didn’t need to spend a dime, or a nickle in this case. Even if your diverse coalition had never existed, 27 would have been defeated. Cincinnati, Hamilton County and even the state of Ohio are so conservative that defeating any funding for social programs is always a given. It’s time to quit breaking your arm patting yourself on the back.
Did you see the video inside the justice center (the first time cameras were allowed in according to Channel 5) of the guards torturing inmates? Looks like a sweet place.
