On Friday, November 30th, a handful of protesters hit Milford, holding signs outside of the “Kids Helping Kids” facility. They claim the institution is a cult-like brainwashing center that abuses children in the name of treatment. “The treatment was based on North Korean brainwashing of American prisoners,” said Anthony Connelly. “The abuse I endured occurred from 1986 until 1988. It ranges from verbal assaults to solitary confinement.”
"Kids Helping Kids uses identical techniques that Straight Inc. used. It was shut down in the early 90’s for allegations of these horrible abuses,” explained Connelly. “In 1993, Kids Helping Kids moved from Hebron, KY into the Straight Inc. building in Milford.”
“This is a behavior modification program, which is part of a congressional investigation into widespread allegations of abuse,” continued Connelly. “CA Rep. George Miller and the Government Accountability Office recently held hearings on these abuses and deaths of teenagers and are attempting to implement bill HR-1738. I fear this bill, if signed into law, would not be enough to stop this atrocious dilemma.”
Representatives from Kids Helping Kids did not respond to our inquiries for comment.
“My human rights were violated and I was tortured into submission starting at age 14,” said Connelly. “Some tactics used on us were food deprivation, sleep deprivation, humiliation, physical abuse, no communication with the outside world, memorize and adhere to all program doctrine. I was also forced to lie to progress and eventually became brainwashed through the use of these uncanny methods.”

Way to go, stickin the truth in their faces. Like the proverbial cross or garlic when fighting the vampires. It is truly wonderful to see people braving the elements in this fashion. I wish I could have been there in person…

You have to wonder what’s wrong with parents that subject their children to these types of institutions.

I wonder about the parents as well, but you have to keep in mind that this is a family program, and the entire family is subjected to the same tactics of “brainwashing.” This is something I didn’t start to understand until recently. In most of these cases, the kids are afraid, or don’t even know they CAN tell what they are experiencing. Also, they are taught, in some cases for YEARS that this is a good thing, that they are being helped. It’s dangerous!

I was sent Pathway Family Center, a facility who has just teamed up with Kids Helping Kids, and i can tell you… inside, it’s not a pretty sight. i wsa there from 2004-2005 and suffer on a daily basis with dreams, flash backs, memories, etc. i was forced to lie in order to move up in the program and they managed to brainwash my whole family. i don’t know if i will ever get over what happened to me there, but i am currently seeking a psychiatrist to talk to about what happened to me there. they almost never turn down an intake, and once your in there, your labeled an addict. i was never given a basic test to distinguish whether or not i was an addict, i was just told i was one. children of all types are in there, and yes, many of us had emotional issues, but these types of issues need to be treated in different ways. such as, antidepressants, psychiatrist, etc. out of 60 some plus kids in my program, i can’t name one that had a severe drug problem. this is not an acceptable choice of words at pathway. at pathway, everyone is an addict whether you’ve used 1 drug, one time, or 10 drugs. in there it’s all the same and no one can save you.

According to the congressional website (http://thomas.loc.gov/) the legislation mentioned above has nothing to do with the rest of the subject matter in this article.

I think it would be good resource if you gathered some links to online documentation about KHK. Did you do something like that a while back?

There are MANY links throughout cyberspace that people can read all sorts of information about this program. It doesn’t matter what the name of the program is called, it’s the MODALITY. This should be brought up for RICO proceedings.

Perhaps this will clear things up about the bill mentioned in the article. It definitely exists and is very relevant to the subject of the protest.
It is called “End Institutionalized Abuse Against Children Act of 2005 - HR 1738 IH”
Here it is:
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D?c109:1:./temp/~mdbszRGXxd::
It was from the 109th congress. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the correction and all the information. I had mistakenly assumed it was a bill in front of this congress, not the previous one.

Yeah…This really looks like a problem, and I do think it’s only parents fault. Children are to young to take decisions for themselves so they are like… parents puppet! This is terrible. And you wonder how come, after experiences like these ones, children get in a drug rehab.
