When I had the opportunity to ask Ralph Nader a question at a pubic forum, I wanted to get his take on 3CDC’s corporate takeover of Fountain Square—especially in the context of how public spaces are being occupied nationally. I must say I was presently surprised by the round of applause my inquiry garnered from the audience. And I found some of Nader’s examples noteworthy, particularly the idea of having an American treasure like the Statue of Liberty taken over by private corporate interests.

The tragedy of the commons.
First, make it impossible for corporate whores to exist.
Second, privatize everything.
It won’t work if you do #2 before #1.
Here in lies the difficulty of the freedom movement.
I would argue that the left is a little short sided on this issue.
