Charterite Joan Kaup’s campaign webpage is now online (kaupforcouncil.com), and all indications are that Kaup’s team is set to mount a fully integrated netroots campaign. Republican John Eby has also mounted a comprehensive online strategy. These techniques are new to the Cincinnati political scene.
Integrated into the nagivation bar of Joan Kaup’s homepage are links to YouTube, MySpace, and Flickr—three top social networking sites:
*Kaup’s Flickr campaign page
*Kaup’s MySpace page
*Kaup’s YouTube channel
If she stays focused, putting time into descriptions, tags, and providing links to her campaign page, she may be able to create a high degree of visibility from a netroots perspective. Missing from Kaup’s approach, however, is a blog—but John Eby has provided one of those, as well as the other tools utilized by Kaup:
*John Eby’s blog
*John Eby’s YouTube page
*John Eby’s MySpace
Eby also has a facebook, but that requires an account to view. It will be interesting to see how many candidates jump on this bandwagon, trying to be sure no other politician outperforms them from a web networking perspective.

Harris’ site was doing this since last December:
http://www.votegregharris.com/multimedia.html
Plus, he has an electronic newsletter that directly makes netroots appeals to supporters.

Harris seems to have the most friends.

None of these guys use their video very well.
Eby needs to fill that bookcase up before he shoots another one.
I think blogs for candidates could be kinda risky given the lunatics that write in to them. If you tried to moderate the thing you would be accused of censorship & blah blah .....
A FAQ would probably be a better approach.

Yup! Harris has been on Partybuilder, Youtube, Myspace, et. al for quite a while. Looks like others jumped on his bandwagon

Point taken, but the others have these tools on their front pages. You have to explore more to find them with Harris. Maybe not a lot more, but more…

Lets see...Harris has a photo slideshow of on YouTube. Kaup has a YouTube video that looks like its a segment from cable access. Eby has at least one campaign video and another produced by his campaign.
Who jumped on what?

My city council webpage has 10x Harris’s friends. Look at the dates on my accounts, before you say Harris did it first.
So there, Na Na Na Na Boo Boo, I did it first, and my dad could beat up Gregg Harris’s dad.

Waste of time unless you consider them blog-fuel.

No one can compete with Holbrooke on videos. Especially the footage of his penis and having sex with his girlfriend.

That’s real cute how they have multi-media campaign strategies and everything, but honestly, who’s going to watch them? The Social Ironist Party is much more entertaining. I don’t know how they’ll compete with us for ratings. Why, I’ll bet their campaigns don’t even have an audience beyond Cincinnati!
I will, however, offer salvation to these and any other lost souls, in the form of a new company I just now formed, Social Ironist Campaign and Entertainment Marketing Solutions.
As a fellow member of Charter Frat, I’d especially like to rescue sister Joan’s Campaign from it’s likely trip to the doldrums. Be in touch, Joan!
For Elby I might recommend heating up the campaign a bit by staging a “leak” of homemade sex tapes to help him gain clout with the college age voters, especially since we’ll shoot it with a 19 year old girl.
Of course, Holbrook, that Maverick, has already used this tactic with great success, so Elby might have to fall back on biting the head off a pigeon to get attention.

Of course Holbrooke has more friends on his site. He accepts the friendship requests that the other candidates regularly “deny"---the porn sites. Also, there’s the sad fact that these really are Holbrooke’s only friends.

I actually have a private myspace account, and 90% of the hundreds on my site are cincy residents. I actually deny about 15 people (spammers) a day from joining my myspace.
So what if I accepted a porn site to my myspace friends list, (something I have not done, since porn is not allowed on myself, and lords I have tried)
Have no other Council candidates ever looked at porn? Is porn an awful thing? What is wrong with a naked body anyways?
If you want to make fun of me, at least use something that is true. Like my awful grammar, or that I buy clothing from Wal-Mart. Don’t try and use the fact that I enjoy looking at naked women from time to time against me, because believe it or not Prudely McPruderton, a large majority of the population has looked at pornography. Now we know you have not, nor any of the other candidates who are so damn afraid of acting human, because admitting that would take a spine.
And who needs a spine when you can make attacks based on lies over the internet.

correction, “(something I have not done, since porn is not allowed on MYSPACE, and lord KNOWS I hav tried)” Is how my rambling should have appeared.
