The office is located on the corner of Reading Road and Avon and there is parking in the back of the building. You must enter in the front of the building and exit from the rear. Anyone who is a member in good standing as of October 18, 2008 can participate in the election. It is not necessary but if you have your membership card please bring it. Your identification is necessary. If you are a Cincinnati NAACP Life Member please bring your plaque. Those members who have purchased life memberships this year your plaques are in the office.
There are 3 contested positions. The positions are: The First Vice President, The Second Vice President, and the Elected Secretary. If you have questions about who is running please contact the Cincinnati NAACP office at (513) 281-1900.
I want to thank Monica R. Williams, the duly elected Chair of the Nominating Committee for all of her hard work, for volunteer service, and for the work of her committee. The Nominating Committee work is now complete. The Election Supervisory Committee is now over the election. Now the baton has been passed to the duly elected Election Supervisory Committee and Chair Mrs. Emily Spicer. I thank Mrs. Spicer for her volunteer service as well as to her committee in making sure that a proper election will be conducted.
I look forward to seeing all members in good standing at the Cincinnati NAACP office on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm. Mrs. Spicer will announce the winners of the election on November 18, 2008.
Please feel comfortable forwarding this email to other members and remember to come out and vote!
Please note that there will NOT be a general membership meeting on November 28, 2008 because this is Thanksgiving day.
Sincerely
Christopher Smitherman

Does this mean that they don’t really know who is running for office or is it just Smitherman?
They have to go in the front door and then slip out the back door? Sounds like the NAACP is church oriented.

Dieterschmied:
The building that houses the NAACP is kind of small, but the flow of voting traffic is pretty strong.
You arrive at the front door,
are greeted by members of the elections supervisory committee
who direct you into line,
ask you to have your membership card at the ready.
You are then seated,
the person in charge of locating your name looks at your membership card,
locates your name,
have you sign (just like at a general election polling places)
and even tells you what month your membership will be due for renewal. Sweet! (Life members may go through other matters, but all is very similar.)
You leave the office,
go into the polling room,
are given a ballot for all of the posts.....
and then cast your choices!!!
Drop the folded ballot into the box, head out the rear door for better flow of foot traffic. And you have taken part in the most recent selection to participants of an issues oriented organization within a democratic society.
Was there about 9AM,
with a steady stream of voters inside the small hallway.
All very congenial and upbeat throughout the exhilarating process.
It was a privilege to cast my ballot,
see folks out campaigning for the contested offices(across the street from the offices and in the parking lot)
and, though not wrapped around the corner like the hotly debated March 2007 election at the same site (http://www.cincinnatibeacon.com/index.php/contents/comments/photo_essay_naacp_vote_march_2007/_)
it is one of those delicious decisions you make in life to be part of a participative, solutions oriented organization.
PLEASE REMEMBER,
YOU HAVE UNTIL 6:30 PM THIS EVENING TO VOTE WITH THE CINCINNATI NAACP!!!
