I’ll be there with bells on.

  2. 3m says:

    I’ll be wearing 6’heals and a 2 di 4 LBD

  3. d4s says:

I’ll be cashing a post dated 3rd party out of state check for $1,119.19. For my GF Esther.
Then we can buy some nose candy for the party yoofs.

  4. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

Uh, thanks impeachMallory people for making your obscure WECC jokes endlessly.

  5. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

so, does this mean the beacon will be available to us county residents? its bad enough I have to literally HUNT high and low for a citybeat out here (thank goodness for 1st Wok Chinese food restaurant)... here’s hoping that you don’t forget us out here, some 15 minutes from klancinnati, by car of course… LOLOL

  6. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

See me at the party and we can talk about you being the suburban delivery volunteer.

  7. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

party?? what party? and the only way it gets ‘delivered’ is if peeps come to my house to get it…. or you guys make some deal w/ 1st Wok as opposed to Kroger’s or meijer’s or bigg’s….

  8. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

ya’know I might try to make - But Saturday night I’m not in the mood to argue politics and the “evils of two party system blahblahblah”. So if I am there supporting (I am the #5 commenter on this blog afterall), I will be in the groucho marx glasses so nobody knows that it is me (shhhhhh -don’t tell anybody else - this is just between you and me). 50/50 chance that I will be there.

  9. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

Yossarian, you would never dare show your face in the real world, by my estimation.

  10. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

This strand, suburban jane d’oh, is about how there is a party this Saturday at Club Bang! to celebrate the Beacon.

  11. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

Dean - now you are sounding angry. Remember, the Beacon is “where divergent opinions converge”. I can’t help it if I just happen to be the only divergent opinion around here. You can’t be angry at me for that. If everyone on this page felt the same way, it would be pretty boring.

Remember, It takes a village to raise a web-page (so I a told) and we all have our roles. You are obviously this page’s mother/father - so watch your temper and be fair. I am that uncle no one wants to talk about, but is the most fun at parties. I can’t figure out if MEP or jeffre is the village idiot - maybe both.

Anywhoo - if you are angry, I will not be there on Saturday. I just wanted to get a drink and say congrats, but I don’t want to dampen the party mood.

Congrats on your paper endeavor none the less.

  12. formerly f says:

looking at the flyer it appears the beacon supports guns and views women as sex objects

  13. Quim says:

ok since no one else will ask, I will.
Is that chick in the picture gonna be there ?

Also, are any other Safari beta users getting a disappearing cursor on this site ?

  14. cincysue says:

Where divergent opinions converge? Hmmm. That’s interesting. My husband wants to know if the chick in the pic will be there.

  15. Freedom Fighters says:

    .

<i>”....My husband wants to know if the chick in the pic will be there….”

Everyone we talk to, those male guys anyway, are saying that for the good of everyone they hope she doesn’t hold her lickher well !

    .

  16. yay! says:

Bang! has been nothing but a disaster for this area.  The fact that you are supporting this business is ridiculous.  Some people have lived in this area for over 20 years and they come in and have no respect for anyone.  When asked to soundproof their walls and use special insulation; They didn’t.  Why don’t you do some investigating while you are there.

  17. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

Great idea!  I think I’ll ask, in the middle of the party, if I can see inside their walls.

Maybe we can get Bang! a notwithstanding ordinance.  You know, so we can make sure everyone is safe.

  18. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

Some peoples kids! Suburban jane must not get out much, City Beat is many places in Anderson, Both Mio’s Pizza’s, County Fresh Market, Keegan’s seafood, and Sandbar to name a few.  All also have no new taxes petition available.  Free Food, I’ll be there! Will they be serving new summer libation “King Portune Soaker” as a drink special? I’ll have petitions available for signing, be nice to put a face with all these names, only one I now know is Micheal Pstton,.  I’ll be the stud in black “Enemy of the State Shirt” wearing Wayfarers, Party On!

  19. yay! says:

Thanks for being a sarcastic ass.

First of all… it was part of their lease agreement that they would put in the sound proofing.  When it was discovered that they didn’t they said they would, but then still didn’t.  Then a group of Residents Concerned for West 4th formed and started going to the police non stop about the mayhem that rose from this place did they finally start negotiations with the residents to comply with things they agreed to do before they opened.

You want people to give a shit about your little pet peeves, but then you shoot down a legitimate complaint.  You are truly a hypocritic ass.

  20. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

    Dear yay!

If you are serious, and there really is a story here that no one is reporting, then why don’t you send me some legitimate information, not an anonymous blog comment on this strand.

If you expect everyone, at all times, to do in depth background checks on every place from which they ever buy anything, ever, to see if someone has ever complained—well, then I guess you don’t leave the house.

  21. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

Yossarian, I am not angry.  Are you already making your excuses for never daring to show your face?

    I was right!

  22. formerly finney says:

“looking at the flyer it appears the beacon supports guns and views women as sex objects”

formerly f, you’ll fit right in.

  23. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

Too bad I have to skip the party, but I make it a point to avoid threatening and harassing environments as much as possible.  At least I have a choice this time.  Your demeaning and exploitative flyer might appeal to men, but it advertises an unsafe environment for women and doesn’t exactly support your purported progressive agenda.  Stick to harassing the politicians and leave women alone.

  24. cincysue says:

So there will be petitions and flyers, eh? Well I suspected this was really a Republican rally. Democrats not welcome.

  25. Open Minded says:

That ad for Bang is horrible.  Some cheap ho (gonna get banged?) and a pistol with her finger in the trigger guard.  If she were black, the picture would be complete for this city.

  26. cincysue says:

The Dean would never under any circumstances degrade any woman—other than a white woman—in a demeaning way. Not that I think the picture is particularly demeaning but can you imagine him putting a black woman in a skimpy outfit, posed seductively caressing an erect phallic symbol?

  27. Venomous says:

I wanted to go, but i’m automobile challenged.

  28. Party Pooper says:

Missed the party, missed the pistol packing “ho/chick”, but I didn’t miss picking up a paper copy of the Beacon. Looks good. I liked the story about Justin passing up on the reality shows, but didn’t he try to get a reality show on VH1 to cover his mayoral run?

  29. lawsonlawyer says:

So, does this mean you’ll pay your taxes???

  30. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

Firstly, cincysue, the ad is the only picture on their homepage:

    http://bangnightclub.com/

See for yourself.  The rest of the images are embedded in flash slideshows, and so it was just easy to use the first thing I found.

Bang has black women holding guns on their walls, as well as shirtless men doing the same.

For the record, I have no problem, personally, with looking at a picture of a hot black woman holding a gun.

  31. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

Also, the bar has a sign asking patrons to be respectful of the neighbors.  I talked to an employee about the neighbors and complaints.

He told me that there was one apartment that kept calling the police, and that finally the police went to their apartment to see how bad the noise was, and allegedly there was no noise.

The club itself is not nearly as loud on the inside as other clubs I’ve seen.

I did not peer into the walls to see the type of insulation.

  32. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

Too bad I have to skip the party, but I make it a point to avoid threatening and harassing environments as much as possible.

That is a ridiculous comment.  There was nothing threatening about the place, or the party.

    .

A great time was had by all.

What a blast and the Dean is blessed with a beautiful, charming wife.

Didn’t see Yossarian, What a shame.

An excellent, face to face, opportunity where divergent views were respected.

To the no-show Dem candidates, well let us just say, your competition shined !

    .

  35. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

Right On Freedom Fighter, jovial, divergent gathering, I and wife Thank you Dean for a wonderful evening, I now have a face to put with Deborah Girl and Dieter Schemid, Dieter commented Valet’s skills reminded him of Barney Oldfield as my car was whipped curb side.

I sincerely wish the Beacon all the best, Jason deservers compensation for his tireless efforts.

  36. Justin Jeffre says:

Party Pooper, maybe next time. You shouldn’t refer to people you don’t know as “ho’s” or “chicks”. That’s not very nice.

Glad you like the Beacon. If you read the article you’d know it was about my friend’s new reality show. I just made a comment about how fake they are and plugged non-commercial channels like Free Speech TV and Link TV which I’m a big fan of.

I’d be happy to do a show that exposes how corrupt this city is. All the money and quid pro quo. I’m thinking of making a documentary about 3CDC and the corporatiztion of public spaces and resources.

I was really picthing a documentary and there is a big difference. I thought it might help people learn about the process and turn people on to politics a little more. I’m glad it didn’t work out though, it would’ve been a pain in the butt.

  37. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

Thanks to everyone that came out to support us! We hope you had as good of a time as we did and we’ll have to do it again soon.

  38. Party Pooper says:

    Justin,
I’m not a very nice person. Aside from that, my reference was in quotes because there were several other posters who used those EXACT SAME terms to describe the young lady in the picture. I dont know her and have no desire to do so although I’m sure she is a wonderful person. I did enjoy the hard copy of the paper and look forward to reading the next one. How was the party?

  39. yay! says:

You should email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

The person who owns this email address will be able to better gather some information for you.  They are the organizer of the Concerned Residents of West 4th.

I’m sure the Bang! employee you spoke with painted you a very pretty picture of what is going on from their own window.

  40. librariangrrl says:

In regards to the noise complaints, from what I understand, the club is in the process of installing another set of doors that should take care of the problem.

And from someone who has spent a decent amount of time there—I really don’t understand the noise complaints at all.  From the outside, it’s not nearly as loud as most bars / clubs.
    ——

I’m not even going ot touch the ‘chick’ and ‘ho’ comment thread…

  41. Robert Wilson says:

Living around the corner from bang I must say the patrons have been rather rude.  I woke up to people laughing and when i went to the window to see what was going on I found a person peeing on my window.  Great!
