Catherine Barrett for Ohio State Senate

Posted by The Dean of Cincinnati

Press release from Catherine Barrett

Dear Democratic Friends:

Today I ask for your support in my campaign for the Ohio 9th District Senate seat…

As your elected Ohio House of Representatives member and public servant in the 32nd District for the last eight years, the infrastructure of community advocacy that I have developed will continue to serve broad community needs when elected your 9 th District Senator.

My forty years of service as a Democrat - from raising my children in Colerain, work in Lincoln Heights, serving as council member, then Mayor of Forest Park - has given me close work contact with individuals and groups. My unwavering dedication to Democratic principles runs through all of my public service and private work.

Your personal support in my campaign will make sure that Ohio’s 9th Senate District remains as an elected Democratic District.

Please join with me this Thursday, December 15, 2005, 10AM promptly, at the Vernon Manor, for our official kickoff of the Barrett for Senate Campaign. Please feel free to contact me at , 513-681-0050 or campaign coordinator Jenny Edwards, , and 513-240-9916 for RSVP or further questions.

I recognize and respect your service to the Democratic Party and its members and hope to see you Thursday.

Very sincerely,

Catherine

  1. Andrew Warner says:

Catherine Barrett did nothing as a representative to deserve a promotion to the senate. She sponsored 4 bills that include a bill that would create a “saving babies” month.

She can’t even talk about her voting record or her accomplishments. When she wanted appointment to the senate seat she is now running for her reasoning was that she has been around the longest.

  2. says:

Her record means zip! What does she look like? Good legs? Big hooters? Engaging smile? Nice hair?

  3. says:

Has she had the sex life of a Democrat? Does she have the bankroll of a Republican?

  4. says:

    Andrew,

Show some respect. Yes, she sponsored only four bills, but she cosponsored 123 more. And yes, one of her bills concerned was about promoting Ohio’s safe haven law, but another extended health care coverage to newer forms of screening for cervical cancer detection. That’s pretty important in my book.

Now you on the other hand, well your claim to fame is that you dropped out of a city council race.  Please tell me that you are going to put your record against hers and run for State Rep. Put up or shut up.

  5. says:

Cathy Barrett will not get my support.  She’s done zippo for the constituents in many areas of her Representative District.  The only time you see her is during that magical Election Time.  People are finished with that style of politicking.  Barrett is completely out of touch with her constituents.  She needs to go.

  6. Andrew Warner says:

    Yossarian,
I have not had years in state government to further a political agenda. She has. And as Anon above points out “she’s done zippo for the constituents.”

While cervical cancer detection is important, it is a minimal accomplishmentl for someone who is term limited in the house.

Maybe if instead of just worrying about health coverage of cervical cancer detection she could worry about health coverage for everyone. Instead she, like every other house Democrat, is making SPAN Ohio collect 500,000 signatures to consider a basic need such as health care.

Yossarian… The sad thing is, you spend more time defending these do-nothing Democrats than they do proposing meaningful legislation.

  7. says:

Back to the important stuff, what does she look like?

  8. The Contrarian says:

I think we should give Kearney a chance before throwing support to someone else.  Especially when that “someone else” is Cathy Barrett.  I have to agree with Andrew Warner on Barrett’s record.  Four years in the legislature and she has nothing to show for it.

Yossarian, I am a lifelong Democrat and a damn proud one at that.  However, you do spend a lot of time defending do-nothing democrats.  Why don’t you stop defending them and try to do something to change the party.

  9. The Contrarian says:

Pardon me, Barrett has had almost 8 years in the legislature…

  10. says:

Quit being so damn shallow talking about her record.....what does she look like?
