Berding’s anti-PR campaign hiding its donors?

According to my sources, the latest campaign finance information released from those opposed to Issue 8—spearheaded by Jeff Berding—apparently fails to document expenditures. The report, which is supposed to be current through October 15th, does not include any big money contributions or big money expenditures. Yet the group has been placing billboards all around town—some of which appeared prior to the October 15th filing deadline.
I called Lamar Advertising, and asked if they could share when the first billboard was erected. They wouldn’t tell me, saying they could only share that information with the party who paid. I asked if the billboards had been purchased (as opposed to being an in-kind contribution), and they confirmed that the billboards were purchased.
I saw my first billboard a few days prior to October 12th. I know this because I emailed someone about it a few days later, and that email was sent on the 12th.
The next campaign finance report will not be released until after the election—which is exactly what Jeff Berding wants. He doesn’t want the general population seeing what names are giving what kind of money to this effort—as such information would likely support the arguments FOR Proportional Representation.
However, the presence of these billboards several days prior to the end of the reporting period indicates that Berding and Company are trying to play with the deadlines. Shame on Berding for his lack of transparency and for being manipulative.

It’s the same fat cats and fictitious entities that fund the current council and get huge handouts. Most of these people don’t even live in our city. See Who Rules Cincinnati.
