There’s been nothing, no statement, no news conference, no call to action, that captures the injustice and tragedy of Mr. Owensby’s senseless death more than this personal outpouring of pain from his child. Tragically eloquent.

  2. Gonna Scream says:

This reads like any other letter of a grieving child. If the death was due to cancer, heart attack, MVA or suicide.
Now what about the other officer involved- The death threats that were so real that he had to move his wife to another state and live under an assumed name- But they hunted her down like a fox running from the dogs and started the hate all over again.

There were NO Winners in the Owensby case. Now the other officer is no longer in law inforcement but in seminary going to become a Pastor.  That is the only positive thing that has happened.

But where does it say it was OK to chase and make death threats to an innocent wife? That was so sad.

  3. cincysuz says:

The “other officer” you reference, conveniently unnamed, I assume was also involved in the death. And exactly who hunted his wife down? I don’t believe that at all. (I wonder if you have this much sympathy for all criminal’s families?)

And the letter isn’t at all like the letter of any grieving child. It’s not borne of or an expression of the grief of a natural loss. It describes a wound that will never heal because of losing a father at the hands of the very people that should be protecting us. A violation that a child can’t understand and as a matter of fact neither can an adult.

What about the officers involved? Well I guess if I was involved in a murder, I might want to get right with God too and turn to the church. Great, that’s at least one off the streets. But, it seems that they are all doing just fine so I wouldn’t worry too much about them. Promotions. Pastorships.

You feel like screaming? Think about Roger Owensby Jr.‘s screams, stifled as the life was crushed out of him.

  4. Scream says:

    Suz,
The entire fellowship that the other office attended were shown letters and emails that were received. Along with tapes of phone calls that she also received. They were real- and she was out of state at the time they were received. So just who felt that they were “god” and had the right to chase and threaten to slit her throat?

Also-unless you have been the parent of a greiving child-or one yourself-you don’t have the business to know a damn thing about it. Get a copy of Guiding your Child Thru Grief- and you will find almost this same letter- gee I wonder if it was plagerizied- on page 117 of that book- written by a 14 year old boy.  So walk a mile in our shoes and then you can smak-talk! Got it.

Gee- no wonder Jason and the gang get upset with you- you are the most self-rightous person that post here-who is an expert on EVERY DAMN topic- now childhood grief! God I wish I could be so smart. At least do your research on childhood grief before you ramble on about it.

And I said- this was a no win situation for All. And that includes the people of Cincinnati.

  5. cincysuz says:

I guess you do wish you were so smart. Keep on wishing. I guess anything’s possible.

Your snide backhanded, slams at this child and attempt to redirect the subject to the inconvenience experienced by some cops’ wives as comparable to the death of her dad, shows your intentions. Calling her a plagiarist? And I don’t need to get a book about grief, I’ve both been a grieving child and adult and have undergone grief counseling.  But my grief was different. The first dealt with an accident, the second, a natural death at an appropriate age. Neither were as a result of murder, an entirely different kind of grief. Have any of your loved ones been murdered by the cops?  That said, I don’t need to know a thing about grief, Mr. Owensby’s child has told us how it feels. Don’t be so low as to disparage this child that has shared her deepest feelings.

Now instead of worrying about cops wives, why don’t you say a word on the real issue here. The murder of Roger Owensby, Jr. Something other than it was a tragedy all around. It wasn’t. It was a tragedy only for the Owensby’s.

(And by the way, the only voice of protest against what I’ve said here is yours.)

  6. scream says:

Since it seems it is just me an you in the ring here- and no one else seems to matter about this subject- maybe that says it all.

No one cares- and if you have been thru all the grief counseling that you say you have- then you should have been able to tell- that this was a child reaching out for a loss of a parent-replace the word- police with cancer- heart attack- drunk driver- and you have your same griving child. PS- I own the T-shirt dearest- on both accounts.

But as far as threatening families- that is just out of line for anyone to do- it justifies nothing- it did nothing- all it did was prove the intelligence level of those involved. It too was WRONG. Everything about this case was WRONG.
What part of my post don’t you get-I already said- it is all WRONG.

And you are the one who jumps in on every topic concerning voting, BOE, Schools, Nate, regional politics, polution, Goin’Green, Corporate Cincinnati- Gee the only thing I haven’t seen you comment on is Heimlich and his weasel butt.

    ENOUGH IS ENOUGH-
As the say in Blog- world- I shall post no more to boost your ego.

  7. cincysuz says:

My ego? Look at the subject “A Poem by the Daughter of Roger Owensby.” My one comment was exactly on topic. Yours wasn’t, except for inferring the young lady was a plagiarist and ridiculing her grief. This is not the appropriate place for me to tear you a new one. So, just crawl back in your hole.

Blaine Jorg a pastor?  Well, I guess there’s redemption and forgiveness somewhere.

  9. Scream says:

Move over Suz- since you live in the city obviously- it is such a hole!

I said it is a NO WIN SITUATION FOR ALL INVOLVED.

WHAT PART OF THAT DON’T YOU UNDERSTAND?

    BAD SCENE FOR EVERYONE.
IT WORKED THRU THE JUSTICE SYSTEM AND YOU DON’T LIKE THE OUTCOME.
    GO CRY IN ANOTHER CORNER.
    GIVE US A REST.
THE JUSTICE SYSTEM DIDN’T HAVE THE OUTCOME YOU WANTED. SOMETIMES LIFE ISN’T FAIR.

  10. JFD says:

CS#5: ” Have any of your loved ones been murdered by the cops?”

It wasn’t murder, it was suicide.

  11. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) says:

JFD, it was clearly murder. You really ought to get a clue. Does the city of Cincinnati pay out millions for cases of suicide? Caton should be in jail.
